Ian Duthie

Wednesdays 10-12

Well, I was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois with two loving parents. Life long Chicago sports fan so I like to think the likes of Jody Davis and Dave Corzine had a role in my upbringing. In fact, my parents told me I learned to read by scanning the Chicago Tribune sports page on the kitchen floor. Have the misfortune of being a die hard Cubs fan, no doubt a part in my dark and negative outlook on life that continues today with my views on sports. Don't dislike the White Sox especially when things are going "fun" bad for the Sox. Graduated ETHS in '97 as a two sport varsity athlete (soccer and baseball). Soon age, booze and falling off roofs took its tool on my unfit body and I realized as 5"8, 130lb white kid from the northern burbs I didn't have the make-up to be a professional athlete. Therefore I thought what better way to stay connected to sports than write about them? So I attended Miami University (no, not the U in Florida and I refuse to call it Miami of Ohio) where I graduated with a degree in journalism, spending five semesters as the sports editor of the student newspaper (The Miami Student). Covered such greats as Ben Roethlisberger and Wally Szczerbiak during my time in Oxford and doubt anyone else here at ICB can spell those two last names without looking them up. After graduating, spent a number of years at the Cincinnati Enquirer, saw that the newspaper business was a dying industry and got out. Bumped around Chicago for awhile doing different jobs before I heard an ad for ICB and figured it could help me get back into the sports industry and the rest is history. Now you can hear me every Wednesday 10-1 on the Sports Hump with myself and Rick Camp.

Favorite sports memory: First Bulls Championship

Favorite athlete: Michael Jordan and Walter Payton...cliche but any Chicago sports fan my age who tells you differently is lying.
