Jamie Newell
After being out of the radio business for nine years, Jamie Newell has returned as a student at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard.
Jamie grew up in Ottawa, Illinois. He spent time as the Sports Director at his hometown’s AM/FM radio stations WCMY/WRKX Radio.
Along with doing sports headlines during WCMY’s morning show. Jamie was the lead play-by-play announcer for his alma mater Marquette High School. He broadcasted Crusader football and boys and girls basketball.
Jamie also co-hosted a Saturday morning coaches show called Coaches Corner and also co-hosted a weekly sports talk show called The Sports Guys.
A life-long sports fan, Jamie follows MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL and is also a huge fan of English Premier League team Chelsea FC (Keep the Blue Flag Flying High).
Jamie lives in Ottawa with his wife, Valerie.
