Slaughter beat Blizzard 50-41 for first win of season

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – The past two weekends the Chicago Slaughter were unable to score or let their opponent score in the first quarter. Saturday night they had no problem, and though they did give up points in the first quarter, they still were up 21-10 on the Green Bay Blizzard by quarter’s end.             Cody Kirby and Dan Dufrene combined for 105 yards on the ground and each rushed for 3 TDs in a game that never saw the Slaughter (1-2) without the lead. Two quick Cedar Rapids Titans scores in the early minutes of the second half found the Chicago Slaughter down 31-7. By the final 17 seconds of the game they would find themselves kicking an onside kick, down by six, following a key David Brown touchdown grab from Cody Kirby.

Just a few weeks removed from the end of the NFL season, right when you thought your football fix wasn’t being met, the Indoor Football League kicked off its 2013 season. The Slaughter came through this time in another close game. Jarret Payton scored late in the 4th to tie the game and an extra point gave the Slaughter the lead.
