Pocono 400 Preview

The weekend is upon us and so is NASCAR's Summer Series. The next six weeks will determine who has what it takes to make the chase. This weekend, the freshly repaved Pocono Raceway will take center stage. While record speeds are expected, so are a few tricks that only the Tricky Triangle can produce.

The Race and The Place
The Sprint Cup boys will take to the Pocono Raceway this Sunday in the Pocono 400 presented by #NASCAR. Last year, this race was 500 miles and won by Jeff Gordon, who outran both Busch brothers to win his 5th race at the three turn track.

Drivers I'm Watching
  • Mark Martin  The kid was the most consistent driver during the two-day test this week. He had the fastest speed in the first practice and the third fastest in the final two practice sessions.
  • Jeff Gordon  Last week, he had the car that could beat Jimmie Johnson and this week is finally gonna be the week he puts the 24 car in the top 5.
  • Tony Stewart  Smoke is such a fan of Danica, he has decided to race just like her. Fall several laps down and see how much the TV Announcers talk about him.
  • Kasey Kahne   Driver number 5 is on a roll and Pocono is one of his best tracks. I look forward to seeing KK this weekend.
  • David Reutimann  David will be fighting for a possible job this weekend while he fills in for suspended driver, Kurt Busch.
Why TheNASCARTER Likes Pocono
Pocono is very unique with three different turns and three straight aways, all of different lengths. NASCAR and Pocono officials have heard our calls and cut this race down to 400 miles. One thing I will be watching this weekend are the restarts, which always look awesome with 43 cars.

My Pick
  • Paul Menard   Last years Brickyard winner had a decent test. He is a dark horse for sure but I have a good feeling this weekend.
